New Single "Rise Again" Released!

Proud to announce the release of my newest single under my artist name Fan Fiqtion, titled "Rise Again", featuring the amazing Lauren Light.

I originally wrote the chorus to “Rise Again” back in Jan of 2019 after being enraged by the rampant corruption I saw taking place in our government and culture. Leaders constantly prioritizing greed over people’s lives and basic human rights. I was shocked by the inequality and blatant racist rhetoric being upheld by men entrusted to lead and protect. I guess I truly believed the world was going backwards, and there was a need for justice and people of character to rise again.

Being gay myself, I’ve experienced a lot of rejection in my life from family, church, jobs, and people I once thought were close friends. I guess in many ways I’ve often felt that I've been asked to take a backseat in this life because of something out of my control. And that pain has evolved into turned into a healthy drive and determination in everything I do. Especially when it comes to writing and producing music, if only to give voice to my experiences and frustrations.

In Feb of 2019 I was honored to meet with a group of incredible music artists in Indio, California for a songwriting retreat. I shared my chorus with Lauren (who’s artistry and voice I admire) and she immediately resonated and embraced a collaboration. We started writing the verses and fleshing out how the song could really speak to anyone feeling marginalized and tossed aside.

Because of how life works, the song was put on hold until the Spring of 2020, when all hell broke loose in the world, with the Covid-19 pandemic, racial inequality protests every day, etc. Lauren and I knew we needed to finish this track, in the hopes it would inspire more people to stand for what’s right, demand equal rights, promote truth, and empower those trying to uphold justice.

We collaborated on this virtually for several month, Lauren singing in her home in North Carolina, and me finishing all the instrumentation and production elements together at my home studio in Phoenix.

This is our gift, as an anthem for all people who have felt unheard, kneeled over, pushed down, spit on, laughed at, mocked, bullied, forgotten and marginalized.

This is for those who are ready to take back their honor and Rise Again.
